We want to make this accessible to everyone, so we decided to not make this a subscription. If you get the yearly license, we will keep adding features and you’ll get them for free for one year. Once your license expires, you can keep using the version you have, but you won’t get any updates.
PDF Squid runs by using the OpenAI API, which is a paid service. We don’t want to charge you for that, so you’ll have to bring your own key. You can get a key from OpenAI on their website
You will need macOS 13, known as “Ventura” or macOS 14, known as “Sonoma” to run PDF Squid. It works on both Intel and Apple Silicon processors.

No, PDF Squid runs locally on your computer. Your documents never leave your computer. Only the extracted text pertaining to your questions is sent to the OpenAI API. OpenAI commits to not train on this data.
No, PDF Squid does not run any usage tracker, analytics or error reporting tool. We don’t want to know what you are doing with PDF Squid unless you take the initiative of telling us.
